Lulu Art prompts week 2 & 3

Has been a busy couple weeks for me with a trip to Brisbane just to name one thing so had not got around to posting before this.  I did have fun creating these pages tried out a few new ideas.

"One step at a time"

Discipline to reach ones goals for the year and conquer that mountain that faces you at the beginning of the year.

For this one I collage each layer with different materials to add to the illusion of mountains.  The front one has quite a bit of texture on it which I added to by gluing smaller pieces on to represent ledges on cliff side.

New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.

Remember past death of pets and family and now
with my Jimmy the joy he brings into my life :)

Secret Garden Cal 2017

This will be an ongoing post as it runs for some months.  First square due out in a few hours.  I'm prepared ready and raring to go and super excited as this one is for me.

I was given two of this one, think it was for backing on fish tanks nice and thick so with the wide sellotape and contact  it should last a while.
There was only one of this print hence the
scrap sides and bottom and butterfly inside.
The scrappy side decided to add in the bits around my
new art journal so both worlds are meeting here.
Yes butterflies had to make a show in somewhere had just enough of this wrapping paper for inside bottom.
Awaiting the first stitch.  I also bought an extra ball of each colour just in case which will be the start of my stash :)

Practice square for week one finished.

Don't they look so cute at this stage.

Square one finished in the four colourways.

A square a week January 2017

Its started first square done and dusted awaiting the rest to make into a blanket or three later in the year.  This year I'm using Red heart super saver and Bernet super value yarn.  Squares will be twelve inches square so will quickly make up into blankets.

January Lulu Art prompt week 1

New Year, New journal new prompts with Lulu Art: https://blog.luluart.com.au/2017/01/05/colour-me-positive-week-1-2/     come join us for a ton of fun there is also a facebook group.

My Chosen images stamped butterfly already cut out.

First off I scrapped a light layer of gesso over the pages.  Using various scrap paper including the wrapping around the new journal and a weekly planner as background stuck down with liquitex matte medium.  I put in on page, back of item and top of item and use an old plastic card (credit card etc) to ensure there are no bubbles.

Light scrapping of gesso over images.

This was the fun part neocolour II, ceramcoat paint and 2 of Tim Holtz stencils.
Face itself was watercolour then watercolour pencils for eyes and lips with gelatos for cheeks.  Various Ceramcoat paint for the hair and butterflies. White and black posca along with India ink in a watercolour brush finished off the details.  Once I was happy with the result I cut it out then pasted it onto the layout along with the butterfly that I had used metalis gelatos to colour.

For me these hearts along represent the positive love from well chosen activities throughout the week.

These arrows are pushing back the power taking control of my life again with Butterflies representing the new.

Completed page including a verse from the calendar page of the day. In my week I wrote various positive things I do for myself and things I can celebrate like the birth of a new niece. The write writing on the left is pale as its just reminding me "push back negative focus on Positive".  This page speaks volumes to me on many levels as it really comes from my heart.  I hope you enjoyed seeing the process.
